During apartheid, he restored pride, courage, and self-respect to Black South Africans. The charismatic activist and physician became a prominent figure in the Black Consciousness Movement, which inspired thousands of people to resist racism and systematic humiliation. Not even his brutal death in a police cell in 1977 could diminish the power of his legacy: to this day, he remains a symbol of the struggle for freedom and human dignity.
