Paul Scott

He was one of the most prominent British prose writers of the postwar era. He achieved his greatest fame with the novel cycle The Raj Quartet, in which he captured the final years of British India with exceptional sensitivity. In his books, he masterfully combined historical accuracy with subtle psychological characterization. He received the Booker Prize for his novel Staying On, and his work remains one of the high points of British literature.
