The French artist turned modern art upside down when he exhibited an ordinary urinal as a work of art and showed that art could also be an idea itself. He was one of the pioneers of Dadaism and conceptual art and continues to inspire and provoke with the boldness with which he broke down the boundaries between art and everyday life.
