Karel Čapek

He was one of the most prominent Czech authors of the 20th century and also had a significant influence on world literature. In R.U.R. and War with the Newts, he combined imagination, humanism, and a warning view of modern civilization. He also became famous for introducing the word “robot,” often worked with his brother Josef, and, alongside prose, wrote plays, feuilletons, and incisive texts about freedom, power, and human responsibility.
