Portrait John Tenniel

John Tenniel

28. 2. 1820 – 25. 2. 1914

He was one of the most prominent British illustrators and caricaturists of his time. He gave Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass their unmistakable visual identity, and his precise, imagination-filled drawings significantly shaped the form of children’s literature. For nearly half a century, he also defined the visual and satirical tone of Punch magazine. His work continues to inspire artists to this day.
