A charismatic actor with an unmistakable voice and aristocratic elegance, he was one of the icons of Czech film and theatre. He left an indelible mark as Mr. Kraus, the father in Cosy Dens, where his distinctive manner, subtle irony, and natural authority came fully to the fore. He won over audiences and colleagues alike with his acting precision. Art ran in his blood: he was the grandson of sculptor Emanuel Kodet and the son of actress Jiřina Steimarová.
