Portrait Jan Neruda

Jan Neruda

9. 7. 1834 – 22. 8. 1891

He created an unmistakable literary world out of Prague’s Lesser Town, where gentle humor meets a deep understanding of human destinies. In feuilletons, short stories, and poetry, he became one of the key figures of Czech realism as a journalist, prose writer, and poet. He inspired generations of readers, and his name is still borne by a famous street below Prague Castle.
