Franz Kafka

A native of Prague, he transformed anxiety, guilt, and absurdity into an unmistakable literary language. In The Trial and The Metamorphosis, he captured with extraordinary precision the powerlessness of human beings in the face of the incomprehensible forces of the modern world. He wrote predominantly in German, but received genuine recognition only after his death. Today, he is considered one of the most influential authors in world literature.
