Portrait Alexandre Dumas fils

Alexandre Dumas fils

27. 7. 1824 – 27. 11. 1895

He emerged from the shadow of his famous father as a prominent playwright and the author of the novel The Lady of the Camellias, which inspired Verdi's opera La Traviata. In his works, he boldly addressed social taboos and the question of women's status, and in many ways was ahead of his time. His life and writing were shaped by turbulent relationships and a strong desire to establish himself beyond the family legend.
